Our platform is designed for solo lawyers, small to medium-sized law firms, and individuals seeking legal help. These users benefit from our easy-to-use, cost-effective solution that simplifies workflows and streamlines the process of finding and booking legal services. We focus on providing accessible and efficient tools that cater to the needs of smaller practices and individual clients, rather than the complex requirements of larger firms.

User Interview & Desktop Research Takeaways

We conducted interviews with both clients and lawyers, and combined those insights with trusted legal industry reports. The same patterns kept emerging — confusion, inefficiency, and a lack of trust on both sides.

These takeaways became the foundation for our design decisions.

Problem

Accessing legal help is harder than it should be. Through interviews with real users and lawyers, and by analyzing trusted industry reports, we uncovered the root of the problem:

Designing a Smarter Way to Find the Right Lawyer

For users, determining if a lawyer is the right fit involves many complex factors, such as specialization, experience, case types, and fees, making the process time-consuming and overwhelming.

How can we help users quickly and efficiently find the lawyer that best suits their needs?

DESIGN SOLUTION

Mobile Search Solution: Simplifying Lawyer Search

  • Search by Keywords: Users can search for terms like "free consultation," "affordable lawyer," "experienced in court," or "fast response" to quickly find lawyers that meet their specific needs. This keyword search helps users narrow down results based on important factors, making the process faster and more tailored to their requirements.

  • Search by location: This ensures that users are matched with lawyers who can legally represent them based on location, reducing the risk of contacting someone who isn’t licensed in their state.

  • Search by Law Category: Users can filter lawyers by their area of expertise, helping them quickly find the right specialist for their legal needs.

💡 Precision in Search: UX Meets Logic

Why “Keyword” became “Lawyer or Firm Name”

  • We originally used “Keyword” as the search label to offer flexibility.
But it proved too vague — users weren’t sure what to type.
In testing, most users just wanted to find a specific lawyer or firm by name.

  • Since the results page already offers powerful filters,
this input field became focused on quick and precise targeting — not general exploration.
The label change clarified user intent and improved search confidence.

✨ Making Inputs Work: UX Meets System Intelligence

To ensure users always receive relevant results — even with minimal input — I defined logic rules that adapt to different search combinations and support smart matching.

Not every search is clean or complete — users make typos, skip fields, or try uncommon combinations. I defined fallback strategies to keep the experience helpful, even when inputs aren’t perfect.

Challenge 2: 

Designing for Real-World Legal Scheduling

Lawyers don’t work 9 to 5. Their days often involve court sessions, urgent client meetings, or unpredictable tasks that make fixed schedules unrealistic.

This made setting availability a moving target — one that needed to reflect real-time availability without overcomplicating the UI.

​SOLUTION:

Final Solution: A flexible scheduling system that prioritizes control, simplicity, and clarity — by letting lawyers set defaults and manage exceptions directly from the calendar.

Initial Setup: Layered Availability System

This version uses a layered structure combining a weekly recurring schedule and date-specific overrides. Together with a date range selector, lawyers could predefine available time blocks for booking, all from a single screen.

The structure made sense logically, helping improve the booking success rate by showing only accurate time slots to clients.

Final Setup: Built Around How Lawyers Actually Work

The new design splits availability into two simple steps — giving lawyers both structure and flexibility.

Streamlining Lawyer Inbox & Intake Process with AI

Lawyers handle appointment requests and intake forms in separate tools, which requires manually reviewing case details and documents before meetings. This leads to slower decisions, incomplete preparation, and repetitive form creation.

A unified AI-powered workspace that centralizes requests, automates evaluation, generates or reuses intake forms, checks completeness, and assists with meeting preparation and follow-ups, all in one seamless workflow.

Quidpro started by solving the hardest first step — helping clients find the right lawyer. As we grow, our focus shifts to retention: building intelligent tools that lawyers actually want to use every day.

Conclusion: What I Built & Learned

Quidpro.ai was more than a design challenge — it was a real product, built and launched.

As my first end-to-end ownership project, it gave me the opportunity to rethink how people access legal help. From deeply understanding two distinct user groups to designing a scalable, AI-powered platform, this experience pushed me to think strategically, design responsibly, and build for real-world complexity.
